About

Modified Electronics is committed to minimal, pragmatic hardware designs for use in the arts, design, engineering, and educational fields that make learning, teaching, and implementing embedded electronics a little bit easier. Our first product, the Modified Pico, grew out of a need to simplify the wiring involved with prototyping electronics using the Arduino™ microcontroller and to lower the initial cost barriers when compared to some other alternatives. We are committed to the open source hardware movement and to facilitating further experimentation with embedded electronics. Where we can create a new product that offers something unique to the community we will endeavor to make it happen. We also only sell those items we create, or products that directly relate to them, in the hopes that our customers will directly support the creativity of the diverse developers and makers that are already out there.

These designs are the work of Brian Evans, an artist who creates minimalist installations using electronic media to explore the utility of semi-intelligent objects. He is an Assistant Professor in Art and Sculpture Area Coordinator for Metropolitan State College of Denver. In addition to teaching studio art courses in sculpture and installation art, Evans has also taught interdisciplinary courses in electronics and mechanics for artists using various microcontroller platforms. In 2007, he assembled the Arduino Programming Notebook with the help of the Arduino community.
